Biography

Robert M. Patten has practiced law since 2009, and he has been a sole practitioner in The Bruce Building since 2019 where he specializes in criminal defense and family law. Prior to opening his own law firm, he worked in the law firm of Kenneth D. Bruce, LLC (formerly Bruce & Thompson) in Summerville, Georgia from 2017 to 2019. He replaced Hon. Don Thompson who was appointed as a Superior Court judge by Governor Nathan Deal in 2016. Mr. Patten worked as an attorney with the Office of the Public Defender in Georgia's Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit from 2009 to 2016. While there, he represented people charged with all manner of felonies and misdemeanors ranging from drug possession and theft to murder, sex offenses, and other serious violent offenses. Mr. Patten is a graduate of The University of Alabama School of Law (J.D.), Appalachian State University (M.A., Political Science and International and Comparative Politics),and Auburn University (B.A., B.A., Political Science, Spanish).
